A large-scale temporary structure conceived for a street festival in New York. The scheme uses a tensile superstructure to span a city block, creating a covered public space that transforms with the programme below it.

— The Concept
A Reversible City
The structure is conceived as a reversible urban intervention — a tensile superstructure that spans the width of a city block without touching the ground plane beneath it. Steel masts carry a network of cables from which a membrane roof is suspended, leaving the street below entirely free. The logic is borrowed from suspension bridge engineering and applied to temporary public space: maximum coverage, minimum footprint, zero permanent alteration to the city.
